JetPCL Print Filter is a Windows desktop product that enables non-PCL printers to print PCL data. With JetPCL Print Filter installed a PCL data stream can be sent directly to a non-PCL printer, resulting in a properly printed page.
During installation JetPCL Print Filter may be attached to any of your existing printers. Once attached, these printers will be able to print PCL data streams. They will continue to print normally when printing through any standard Windows application (as before the installation). However, after the installation, PCL data files can be easily sent to the printer in several ways.
The easiest way is to setup the printer as shared printer and then copy PCL data directly to the shared printer name.
For example, using the Win32 command
where Sample.prn would be a PCL data file and \\ComputerName\SharedPrinterName would be a shared printer name like "\\SallyPC\InkJet1100" (or some other shared printer name).
Similarly, PCL files can be copied directly to the port associated with the printer. Or Windows applications can print their PCL data streams directly to the printer in RAW mode.
The PCL data stream or PCL file might come from a legacy application or a mainframe computer system or any application that produces PCL output. This PCL data can be easily sent to a local printer or a shared printer on the network automatically from within a script or batch file or a specially designed application that prints to the print driver in RAW mode.
